在板球比赛中，队长是领导团队的一名球员，承担更多角色和责任。[1][2]印度超级板球联赛（英文缩写：IPL，简称：印超）是采行2020制进行比赛的超级联赛，[3]2008年，第一轮印超顺利举办，此后每年都举办一次。[4] 在已办的6个赛季中共出现了34名队长，每支队伍至少有一名队长。[5]
板球队Chennai Super Kings的马亨德拉·辛格多尼担任队长的次数位居第一，共96次，获胜率为61.05%。[5]获胜率最高且参与过10轮比赛以上的队长是孟买印度人的罗希特夏尔马，获胜率为76.92%。[5]多尼担任队长时赢得比赛的次数最多（58次），而亚当吉尔克里斯特担任队长时输掉比赛的次数最多（39次）。[5] Mahela Jayawardene和Kumar Sangakkara担任了3支队伍的队长，数量最多。 Mahela Jayawardene是Delhi Daredevils、Kings XI Punjab和Kochi Tuskers Kerala的队长，Kumar Sangakkara是Deccan Chargers、Kings XI和Sunrisers Hyderabad。[5]
