奥莫河
奥莫河(Omo River)是埃塞俄比亚西南部的重要河流,整条河道在埃塞俄比亚境内,进入与肯尼亚接壤的图尔卡纳湖。奥莫河是内流盆地流域的主要河流。根据埃塞俄比亚中央统计局资料,奥莫河全长760公里。[1]1980年,靠近图尔卡纳湖地区的谷地列入联合国教科文组织世界遗产,登录名称为奥莫低谷。
早期发现
在奥莫河的河岸,考古学家找到来自早期更新世时代到上新世时代的Olduwan 原始人化石碎片。这些碎片是现已灭绝的南方古猿的一个重要发现[2]。
