摩托車的安全問題

摩托車的安全問題主要在於在摩托車本身及其配件的設計等各方面,以及其操控技巧及訓練的各種問題。 與一般轎車比較,摩托車缺乏車廂的保護,安全性較低,因此常被戲稱為「肉包鐵」或「皮包鐵」。相對地,轎車則被稱為「鐵包肉」或「鐵包皮」[1]。這不單單是猜測,而是美國根據實際統計數字支持,摩托車的意外率比一般汽車為高。

根據美國國家高速公路交通安全管理局(NHTSA)在2006年的統計數字,每10萬輛汽車裏,有13.10輛最終會涉及致命的碰撞;但對於摩托車,同等的統計數值卻是72.34輛[2]。另一方面,若比較平均行車里數的致命意外比率,摩托車的數值也同樣比私家車遠遠為高,是私家車的35倍[2]。 究其主要事故原因,多爲超速、酒後駕駛等異常駕駛行爲。

英國,根據其運輸部於2004年的統計數字,若按每億行車里數的嚴重意外比率的數字比較,摩托車的意外率是私家車的16倍,單車的兩倍[3]

中國,單單是廣東省,省內交通意外就有七成與摩托車相關[4]
