分類
世界鳥類學家聯合會（IOC）、Clements、世界鳥類手冊（HBW）都承認鏽胸星額蜂鳥是獨立物種，[3][4][5]美國鳥類學會的南美洲分類委員會將其視為領星額蜂鳥的一個亞種，但也在提議將其承認為單獨的物種。[6]
