古柏方格

古柏方格区,位于水星有大量坑穴的地区,包括年轻、直径55公里的古柏坑(11°S.,31.5°),在纪录上是这颗行星反照率最高的地区[1],和水星经度的主要参考点,小的婚咯坑(Hun Kal,0.6°S.,20.0°)(戴维斯和贝特森,1975年);撞击坑和盆地、为数众多的二次坑、大量明亮的坑是这个平原地区的地貌特征。至少存在6个直径从150公里至400公里的多环盆地。由于在水手10号拍摄的水星影像中广泛存在着多环盆地,如同在月球火星,它们存在的价值在提供了比较这些天体的结构之间的潜在基础。
