室女座GW
PG 1159-035是PG 1159星的原型,之后就是以PG 1159作为这一类恒星的名称,这颗恒星是在帕洛马绿色巡天调查紫外线过量的恒星时发现的天体 [1],并且像其它的PG 1159星一样,是中心正在转变成为行星状星云和白矮星的天体[4]。

在1979年发现PG 1159-035的亮度会变化[5],并且因而在1985年被归类为变星,标示为室女座GW[6]。PG 1159型变星可以称为室女GW型变星 ,或是再分为DOV和PNNV星[7][8]。PG 1139-035的变化,和其他的室女GW型变星一样,是由于本身内部的引力波在非径向方向上的脉动[9]。它的光度曲线在1989年3月曾经被Whole Earth Telescope仔细的观察超过264小时的时段,和在变化的光谱中发现超过100种周期在300至1,000秒的变光模式 [10][11]。
