異檸檬酸脫氫酶 (NADP+)需要Mn2+或Mg2+以維持活性。真核細胞中的異檸檬酸脫氫酶 (NAD+)以兩種形式存在:其中一種與NADP+還存在於細胞質基質中不能變構調節;另一種與NAD+相關聯且僅在粒線體中被發現並但可以變構調節。[2] 這兩種酶——異檸檬酸脫氫酶 (NADP+)與異檸檬酸脫氫酶 (NAD+)並不相同,前者能以草醯琥珀酸作為底物。某些物種的異檸檬酸脫氫酶 (NADP+)也能利用NAD+,但催化的反應速率較慢。[3]
