2-AT是苯基異丁胺的剛性類似物,在大鼠辨別測試中它完全替代右旋苯丙胺,儘管效力只有八分之一。[1]它已被證明可以抑制血清素和去甲腎上腺素的再攝取,並可能誘導它們的釋放。[3][4]由於在齧齒動物研究中它完全替代了右旋苯丙胺,因此它也可能作用於多巴胺。[1]
