谷米螺科

新腹足目的一科软体动物

谷米螺科（学名：Marginellidae）是新腹足目下一个腹足纲软体动物的科。其物种体型细小，在新腹足目物种当中甚至是最细小的一类[2]；不过色彩却很丰富。除两个淡水物种以后，其余皆为海洋物种。

分类学

长久以来，本科物种的分类都在混乱状态：不少流行出版物依然把本科所有物种全归类到谷米螺属去，因为牠们从其螺壳来看，至少表面来看很相似。

分类上的混乱源于这样一个事实：早期的分类相当粗略地基于螺壳的特征。尽管该组中确实存在许多可用来分辨不同物种的良好螺壳特征，但这些特征通常被误解或不被认为是重要的。活体动物齿舌和外部解剖结构上确实存在的此类资讯广泛散布在科学文献中，而内部解剖学描述直到最近才出现。

2019年，一项对于谷米螺科及Cystiscidae科物种（即俗称的“类谷米螺物种”，marginelliform）的分子生物学研究为本科物种间的关系重新建立系统发生树；这项由Fedosov A.E., Caballer Gutierrez M., Buge B., Sorokin P.V., Puillandre N., Bouchet P.共同进行的研究还确立了谷米螺科跟涡螺科（Volutidae）、Cystiscidae（英语：Cystiscidae）（旧属吸螺目[3]）及Marginellonidae（英语：Marginellonidae）的关系较为密切，应合组成为涡螺总科（Volutoidea）[2]。在较旧的分类，本科被归入到骨螺总科[4]。

形态描述

谷米螺科物种的螺壳通常很小，但依不同物种的壳大小不同，从微小到中等大小不等。

螺壳外部的颜色可以是白色、奶油色、黄色、橙色、红色或棕色，并且可以是均匀的颜色，也可以形成各种图案。胎壳（英语：protoconch）是少螺旋的。壳唇较厚，可以是光滑的，也可以是有小齿的。纵张肋可以存在或不存在，虹吸切迹可以存在或不存在。小柱可能有 2-6 个褶皱。本科物种没有螺厣。
